You're not alone. Comprehensive evaluation, compassionate support, and advanced treatments to help you achieve a healthy pregnancy after recurrent miscarriage.
Recurrent Pregnancy Loss (RPL), also known as recurrent miscarriage, is defined as two or more consecutive clinical pregnancy losses before 20 weeks of gestation. This condition affects 1–2% of couples trying to conceive and can be emotionally devastating.
Modern definition: 2 or more losses (previously 3 or more). Evaluation is now recommended after 2 losses.
Affects 1–2% of couples
50–60% due to chromosomal abnormalities
Many causes are treatable
We understand the profound grief and heartbreak that comes with each loss. You are not alone, and there is hope. Our team is here to support you through every step of this journey.
RPL can result from multiple factors. In approximately 50% of cases, a specific cause can be identified and treated.
Most Common
Treatable
In approximately 50% of cases, no specific cause is identified (unexplained RPL). Even in unexplained cases, many women go on to have successful pregnancies with supportive care.
A thorough, evidence-based workup to identify treatable causes.
2–5% of RPL couples have parental chromosomal rearrangements
Most important treatable cause
Cause-directed therapy significantly improves live birth rates.
Genetic counselling, PGT-A (preimplantation genetic testing for aneuploidy) with IVF, or donor gamete options where a parental chromosomal abnormality is identified.
Low-dose aspirin combined with heparin (anticoagulation therapy) started early in pregnancy significantly improves live birth rates in confirmed APS cases.
Hysteroscopic correction of septum, polyps, fibroids, or adhesions to restore normal uterine cavity shape before attempting pregnancy again.
Optimizing thyroid function, blood sugar control, and treating PCOS or luteal phase defects before conception to reduce miscarriage risk.
Individualized anticoagulation therapy based on the specific clotting disorder identified, guided by a hematologist alongside your fertility specialist.
Supportive care, early pregnancy monitoring, and emotional support. Many couples with unexplained RPL go on to have successful pregnancies without specific intervention.
PGT-A screens embryos for chromosomal abnormalities before transfer, allowing selection of euploid (chromosomally normal) embryos. This is particularly beneficial for RPL caused by aneuploidy.
Women ≤35 years: PGT-A increased cumulative live birth rate from 51% to 70%.
PGT-A is not appropriate for all RPL cases. Your fertility specialist will discuss whether genetic testing aligns with your specific situation and diagnosis.
With comprehensive evaluation and appropriate treatment, many women with RPL achieve successful pregnancies.
Success rates vary based on individual factors including age, cause of RPL, ovarian reserve, and overall health. These are general estimates from published studies.
